I bring my four-year-old son to a local play group twice a week. They have many toys and crafts for the kids to play with freely. One of the activities is a felt board with felt dinosaurs, people and shapes. My son loves playing with it and I have been planning on making one at home for quite awhile. This week, I got out the felt I had bought and set to work.
My son has been on a huge alphabet kick. He loves practising the alphabet so I decided to make the Alphabet Felt Learning Activity for Kids.
It is very simple. All you need is a large sheet of felt for the board. I bought a 36″ by 36″ sheet at a big box store. Then you just need small sheets of different coloured felt for the letters.
Cut out the letters with a sharp pair of scissors.
You can create a board by gluing the large sheet onto a piece of cardboard or tacking it to the wall with thumbtacks like I did.
We mixed up the letters on the floor and then my son had to find the upper and lower case of each letter.
You can use the Alphabet Felt board to practice names or to create sight words as well. You can always cut out more letters as you need them. I will also be making some numbers and shapes to practice on the board. The possibilities are endless.
